Free family fun party on Salisbury’s revived Church and John Streets
The City of Salisbury has partnered with Mainstreets of Australia and the Salisbury Business Association to throw a family fun street party on Saturday 20 May 2023
The Church and John Street Revitalisation Project kicked off in May of last year and is now drawing to a close. Funded by the City of Salisbury with part funding from the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, the City Centre has seen a renewal of the area, which reflects Salisbury’s heart and identity.
In celebration, the City of Salisbury has partnered with Mainstreets of Australia and the Salisbury Business Association to throw a family fun street party on Saturday 20 May 2023 from 10am to 1pm.
Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM welcomes everyone to come have fun and see the renewed Church and John Streets.
Everyone is invited to join in the festivities. There will be a range of food vendors and fun activities for the whole family. Highlights will include:
- Bouncy castle
- Face painting
- Pedal Loop Cars
- Giant games
- Silent Disco
- Magic acts
- Hoyts colouring competition
- Live stage performances
Major improvements and landscaping have created a more accessible area around the city centre with revived laneways and a fresh new revitalised look. This has included improved lighting from above and below, brand-new pavers for walking areas, fresh plants and trees for more shady seating, added street furniture, and planter boxes to keep new greenery neat.
New artworks have been installed, including the colourful Music Melting Pot, a nod to Salisbury’s historical brass bands and a sculpture aptly named “Family” that symbolises the city’s strong immigration, community and family focus.
The completion of this project will add to the latest of the Council’s renewal measures to forward the City of Salisbury’s City Plan 2035.
